Noosa Aquatic Centre reopens after COVID scare

Noosa Aquatic Centre reopens after COVID scare
January 8, 2022

Noosa Shire Council has advised that its Noosa Aquatic Centre - closed as of Wednesday for 48 hours after confirmed positive COVID-19 cases by community members who attended the facility - has today reopened.

The Council advised that facility has undergone a thorough clean during a two-day closure arising from confirmed positive COVID-19 cases from two community members who attended the centre.

Advising that Centre will reopen from 7am today (Saturday 8th January), Council acting Chief Executive, Larry Sengstock explained "we activated our COVID safe plan and as an extra precaution instigated a thorough clean of high traffic areas and a further assessment of the risk.

“The health, safety and welfare of the community and staff remains council’s number one priority."

All of the Centre's programs have also resumed.

The Council advised that the closure has been a timely reminder that the highly infectious Omicron strain is in the Noosa community, noting that residents should, at all times:

  • Maintain good hygiene measures
  • Wear masks at all indoor spaces
  • Practice social distancing
  • Stay at home if you have any COVID symptoms and self-isolate.
  • Avoid crowded events or venues.
