NSC Sports Investment Summit announces Deloitte and CAS as event partners

NSC Sports Investment Summit announces Deloitte and CAS as event partners
October 30, 2024

The organisers of the upcoming NSC Sports Investment Summit have announced that Deloitte, one of the world’s leading professional services firms, and the Confederation of Australian Sport (CAS) will be key partners for the event on 20th November 2024.

Set to focus on ‘Innovation in Investment in Sport’, the Summit is aiming to bring together global and local experts to discuss the future of funding and sustainability in Australian sport.

As a platform for shaping the future of the sport industry, Deloitte’s involvement is significant.

Its sport practice includes over 100 team members in Australia, supported by a global network of more than 1,000 sport experts and subject matter experts (SMEs) with its expertise spans the entire sporting ecosystem, from working with peak bodies and national sports organisations to government entities and major sports events.

Highlighting the firm’s vision for Australian sport, Sandra Sweeney, Sports Lead Partner at Deloitte Australia, advised “we are proud to partner with the NSC Sports Investment Summit and support conversations that will help shape the future of sport in Australia.

“Our work across strategy, business performance, and technology is designed to help Australian sports organisations not only grow but embrace sustainability and innovation as core elements of their success.

“We look forward to sharing our global insights and working together to build a more resilient and thriving sports ecosystem.”

Deloitte has been actively involved in driving digital transformation in sport. For example, the firm recently assisted sports organisations in developing data-driven strategies to enhance fan engagement, improve financial performance, and embrace digital technologies to future-proof their operations. Deloitte's innovative approach includes leveraging digital analytics, enhancing cybersecurity measures, and fostering digital platforms to broaden fan reach and deepen audience interaction, helping sports organisations create new revenue streams.

Global Expertise Meets Local Innovation
Deloitte’s participation will include the ‘Global to Local: Funding the Future of Sport’ panel featuring Sweeney along with colleagues Pete Giorgio (Global Sports Practice Leader, Deloitte) and Aaron Black (Head of Private Equity, Deloitte Australia).

The panel will explore how sport can transition to a new funding ecosystem presenting insights into global trends shaping sport and how these can be applied in Australia.

Welcoming Deloitte’s involvement, NSC Sports Investment Summit Chief Executive, Martin Sheppard stated “Deloitte brings an unparalleled depth of knowledge and global experience to the Sports Investment Summit.

“Their expertise in both the financial and operational aspects of sport will provide attendees with key insights into the future of funding and innovation. This contribution will be invaluable as we explore the evolving opportunities and challenges for the Australian sports industry.”

Confederation of Australian Sport partnership
Organisers of the Summit have also advised that the Confederation of Australian Sport (CAS) is also supporting the event.

Established in 1976 as a peak body for sport, CAS has championed ‘Sport for All’ throughout its history.

Aiming to play a higher profile role in advocating for the interests of national and state sporting organisations CAS President, Ned Coten explained “as the ‘green and gold decade’ progresses and we prepare for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, much of the focus has been on elite-level competition.

“However, grassroots sport is struggling, with diminishing volunteer support and traditional sponsorship models drying up.

“Our involvement in the NSC Sports Investment Summit is driven by a desire to identify new ways to secure the future of both community sport as much as podium opportunities. We believe that with a consistent message and a united effort, we can unlock significant investment opportunities”.

In an industry often fragmented, CAS sees the Summit as a chance to unite stakeholders across sectors and foster collaboration to secure investment, with Coten adding “we need to encourage collective action across NSOs, SSAs, all levels of Government, technology, health and entertainment to secure sustainable funding.

"The Summit is a timely opportunity to build and realign these relationships."

The NSC Sports Investment Summit will feature a series of high-profile speakers and panels designed to inspire and guide the future of sport investment in Australia.

The inaugural NSC Sports Investment Summit is produced by the National Sports & Physical Activity Convention (NSC) Events Team and is being held at the Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park on 19th and 20th November.
