read moreTo assist with COVID-19 recovery by supporting more events in the local community, Orange City Council has allocated an extra $100,000 to the Council’s Event Sponsorship Program, bringing the total funding allocation to $200,000 for this financial year.
Organisers of events happening from 1st October to 31st December can now apply for financial assistance from Council.
Orange City Mayor Reg Kidd is pleased to see extra funds dedicated to getting local events back on track in the budget this financial year and adds “Although COVID-19 restrictions are beginning to ease, we can’t forget about the impact it has had and in some cases continues to have on so many, especially those associated with the entertainment and hospitality industries.
“By doubling our usual budget, this will ensure that more local event organisers are able to apply for financial assistance, and for those who usually seek Council funding there is more money up for grabs to see these events get bigger and better.”
Orange City Council’s Finance Committee Chair Jeff Whitton encourages all local event organisers make a submission now that applications are open and adds “this is the chance for our local committees and organisers to take advantage of the newly allocated funding.
“We want to see these events be more successful than ever before so organisers and local businesses get back on track. It’s also important that these events deliver for not only the community of Orange, but the visitors these events attract to our city. It’s a time to start enjoying and supporting events of all types once again.”
Applications close on Sunday 16th August.
