Burdekin Shire Council in North Queensland is inviting tenders for the management of its Burdekin Aquatic Centre in the town of Ayr.

The Centre (also known as the Ayr Swimming Pool) consists of an outdoor 50 metre pool and a separate children's wading pool.

Both pools have shade cover, with the children's pool being fully covered and the main pool covered at the shallow end.

The pool is open every day outside of the winter season and has a kiosk on site selling snack foods and drinks.

In the 1960s and early 1970s the pool was used by Australian National Swim Team for training before major events.

A $2.5 million all-abilities aquatic play park is set to open at the Centre early in 2023.
