Western Australian Government announces appointment of new Commissioners to Tourism WA Board

Western Australian Government announces appointment of new Commissioners to Tourism WA Board
June 10, 2024

Western Australian Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti has today advised of the appointment of five new commissioners - Rosanna Angus, Kristy Bailey, Andrew Lane, Caroline Taylor and Jason Waters - to the Tourism WA Board.

The Board of Commissioners is the governing body and accountable authority for Tourism WA and guides the strategy, objectives and performance targets for the agency.

Under the Western Australian Tourism Commission Act 1983 (WATC Act), up to a total of 10 board commissioners can be appointed to the Tourism WA Board.

A statement from Minister Saffioti advised that each commissioner brings decades of experience to the role and with extensive career histories across the tourism, aviation, hospitality, and travel and transport industries.

Angus is the owner of Oolin Sunday Island Cultural Tours and was recently named 'Australia's Top Tourist Guide' for her work in Broome.

Bailey and Lane both have extensive experience working in the tourism and transport sectors through their roles at Swan River Seaplanes and SeaLink, while Taylor brings a thorough understanding of Western Australia's food and wine industry from her work as a chef, business owner and hospitality consultant.

Waters is the Chief Executive Officer of Perth Airport and provides a global aviation and investment perspective to the role.

Along with the new appointments, Board Deputy Chair Manny Papadoulis, Commissioner Iain Grandage and Commissioner Janelle Marr have all had their terms extended.

Welcoming the appointments, Tourism Council WA Chief Executive Evan Hall said the new board members had a wide range of experience, and particularly welcomed the new expertise in marketing, aviation and tourism operations in Western Australia.

Hall noted “it’s great to see enhanced industry expertise on the board, particularly as a new Tourism WA Managing Director is recruited.

“The new board members will help steer the recovery of international tourism to WA, which is still 21% behind from pre-COVID levels.”
