read moreThe Australian Swim Schools Association (ASSA) has this week celebrated the closing of its inaugural 'Mentoring for Success' program which saw aquatic industry professionals/mentors paired with enthusiastic up and coming workers/mentees in a nine-month program.
This initiative was formed by ASSAs Mentoring and Development committee, and the team at Leadership Shapers have since brought it to life.
Led by Leadership Shapers Chief Executive, Amanda Crawford and Head of People Experience Jo Fisher, the program provided the group an invaluable opportunity to connect, develop, and grow with others in the industry while sharing learnings and experiences.
Commenting on the program ending on a high, ASSA General Manager, Emily McNeill commented “mentoring is such an important part in everyone's career journeys and is something we are proud to offer as an Association.
“We could not run this program without the team at Leadership Shapers who generously donate their time to not only run the program, but ensure its success.”
One of ASSA's Mentors from the program stated “the program has been an invaluable opportunity to connect with others in the industry and share our learnings and experiences.
“It’s provided growth for both the mentor and the mentee and as a mentor, the support received from Amanda and Jo has meant I’ve been able to safely step outside my comfort zone as a leader.”
A Mentee from the program said that some of the key benefits of this program were "having a resource outside my own organisation, developing a network of others in similar positions, as well as sharing growth opportunities with my team and those that work very closely with me.”
Another noted that the best thing about the program is "knowing it's dedicated to our industry".
ASSA is now opening applications for its Year 2 program.
