read moreThe Gold Coast's Wet’n’Wild waterpark has today opened a new multi-million-dollar precinct including a huge splash zone and Australia’s tallest waterpark slide tower.
Standing 27 metres high, the new slide tower features three thrilling slides including the Kaboom!, Double Barrell and Super Ripper. It is surrounded by the H2Oasis splash zone featuring tipping buckets, water jets and other children's water play features.
With the peak summer season approaching, Village Roadshow Chief Executive, Clark Kirby said it is exciting time in Wet’n’Wild’s history to open this new precinct which will create joy and memories for our guests.
Kirby advised “this new attraction is a game-changer for Wet’n’Wild and with the Tallest waterslide tower in Australia featuring three all new rides, there are plenty of new thrills and spills on offer for our guests in time for summer.
“In addition to the exciting new slide complex, we also have the H2Oasis splash zone which will be perfect for our families with younger guests, meaning this new precinct will have something on offer for the whole family.
“It is going to be a great summer for Wet’n’Wild with Dive’n’Movies also returning from the 27th December.”
With the Queensland Government having helped Village Roadshow fund the expansion, Queensland Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe helped cut the ribbon at the opening, along with Kirby and City of Gold Coast Deputy Mayor Donna Gates.
Minister Hinchliffe commented “we’ve partnered with Village Roadshow on a $70 million investment in theme park infrastructure to create new world-class visitor experiences on the Gold Coast.
“The four new waterslides are a terrific addition to Wet’n’Wild with completion perfectly timed to make a splash with Queensland and interstate visitors this summer. Village Roadshow is a good example of tourism operators who have supported construction jobs during the pandemic by finding opportunities to rebuild better with new visitor experiences to accelerate our pandemic recovery.”
With the Queensland Government to reopen the state’s borders to fully vaccinated interstate visitors, Minister Hinchcliffe added “today’s opening is perfectly timed for Monday’s early border reopening to fully vaccinated interstate visitors.
“Wet’n’Wild is a great example of tourism operators finding opportunity during the pandemic to rebuild better with new visitor experiences to accelerate our recovery.
“The Slide and Splash Precinct will be on the bucket lists of thousands of interstate holidaymakers this summer.”
Wet’n’Wild’s Slide and Splash precinct includes:
The 750 metre² softfall surfacing in the H2Oasis water play areas comes from industry leader Life Floor - installed by Grassports Australia (Queensland). The firm advise that is swirling patterns represent the "most complicated design by Life Floor anywhere in the world".
