read moreNow in its eighth year, the Basketball Australia’s National Coaches conference is returning to the Australian Institute of Sport from 2nd - 3rd June, providing coaches of all levels of the sport with valuable information across a wide range of topics and interest areas.
The chance to have some 200 coaches from around the country share ideas and learn from each other has been a valuable legacy.
An eclectic mix of industry professionals will offer unique insights for coaches, exploring their journey and methodology working in high performance environments.
From the coaching cohort, the conference will feature Alan Keane, current coach of the Great Britain Under 20 Men, James Janssen, Associate Head Coach of the Women at NCAA program Davidson and Macs Monk, High Performance Coach with Basketball New South Wales.
Across the industry, Jarrod Moore will feature providing insights on his role as Coach Development Manager with Basketball NSW.
There will also be featured presentations from Australian & Centre of Excellence conditioning guru Bridie Duggan and professional wellbeing expert Rhian Bird.
Peter Lonergan, General Manager of the Centre of Excellence pathway believes that the variability of featured guests will encourage coaches to think laterally and innovate their approach to the challenges and opportunities that arise from high performance environments.
Lonergan advised “our international guests Alan Keane and James Janssen are not only outstanding coaches, but they are education professionals who bring a learning lens to their presentations.
“Jarrod Moore and Macs Monk are two of the brightest young minds in the country for coaching methods and enhancing the athlete experience, while Bridie Duggan and Rhian Bird bring a wealth of knowledge in the area of athlete wellbeing and physical management.
“We have been fortunate to have so many experienced and knowledgeable coaches share their expertise and help grow capacity at all levels of the sport.”
