read moreThe Brisbane International is returning to Pat Rafter Arena in 2024 with the ‘block-buster event’ expected to attract the world’s best tennis players.
180 top ranked men’s and women’s players will compete from 31st December 2023 to 7th January 2024 for a record $3.1 million in prize money.
Brisbane International Tournament Director Cam Pearson shared “We are delighted to welcome the Brisbane International back, bigger and better than ever in 2024.
“We know how much the players love playing the Brisbane International and starting the season in Queensland.
“Fans can look forward to eight days of high-quality international tennis, an expanded women’s draw, and 180 of the world’s best players competing for a big prize pool. It doesn’t get any better than that.”
The Brisbane International, last held in its full format in 2019, will take place during week one of the ‘Australian Summer of Tennis’ and will include singles and doubles tennis jointly sanctioned by the Women’s Tennis Association and the Association of Tennis Professionals.
QLD Tourism and Sport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe enthused “It’s terrific to see the much-anticipated return of the Brisbane International tournament to reignite Australia’s summer of tennis.
“Tennis fans love this block-buster event, as much as the players love playing at Pat Rafter Arena.
“The event will also serve up a win for good Queensland jobs, with thousands of fans travelling to Brisbane from interstate and contributing $10 million to the visitor economy.
“This summer of tennis promises to be a winner for tennis fans and for Queensland.”
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner added “The Brisbane International is a grand slam get for the city and we are thrilled to welcome the event back to the Queensland Tennis Centre this summer.
“Our city continues to be the number one choice for international sporting events, and residents are spoilt for choice when it comes to live sport in Brisbane.
“With the tournament kicking off Australia’s summer of tennis, the eight days of action will be a boon to Brisbane’s local economy with hospitality, tourism and accommodation providers feeling the love from tennis fans across the nation.”
The tournament is backed by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland, in partnership with the Brisbane Economic Development Agency, working to deliver world-class major events for Queensland.
Tickets will be on sale from 12:00pm AEST, Wednesday 20th September 2023.
