The tiles were installed throughout the facility to improve comfort and safety during a significant refurbishment of the popular swim school in 2020/21.
Life Floor in the colour Sunshine was used to clearly indicate approaching stairs and improve accessibility with ‘Bluebird’ used in other areas of the 123 metre² installation
Life Floor (Australia & NZ) Manager, Grant Burgess explained “because Life Floor was involved from the commencement of the proposed floor surfacing renovation plans, we were able to suggest some construction applications to ensure the Life Floor finished floor height matched surrounding pool edge tiles height thus providing a nice clean looking finish, and importantly, eliminating a potential trip hazard.”
The Swim School’s former heavy and hard to clean, temporary rubber mats have now been discarded and the new floor is being kept clean using a battery-operated floor scrubber.
The John Carew Swim School is a family run business with a rich history, that has been coaching generations of children since the early 1960s.
Ignited by his passion for the water and a keen interest in technique and timing, John Carew founded his own swim school to pass on his knowledge.
Devoting his life to swimming, a highpoint was coaching the Australian Swim Team at the Olympics on three separate occasions.
Today, his wife, Barbara and son, David, carry on his beliefs at the swim school as they continue to inspire young minds for many generations to come.
Installation was undertaken by SynSurf Pty Ltd.
Life Floor has also recently undertaken significant installations at the Moama on Murray Resort for tourism operator Tasman Holiday Parks and for the new H2Oasis splash zone/aqua play area at Wet’n’Wild on the Gold Coast.
