National Media announces November 2021 date for new fitness trade show and conference

National Media announces November 2021 date for new fitness trade show and conference
October 15, 2020

National Media’s entry into the fitness and wellness conventions market has seen it reveal that its Business of Fitness Conference, first announced in August, will be expanded with a fitness trade show - Fitness + Wellness Australia.

National Media Event Director, Shaun Krenz has also announced that the events will run at the International Convention Centre Sydney from 11th to 13th November.

Making the commitment to a live, in-person conference and trade show, Krenz (pictured below) advised “I am super excited to announce … the region's new, independent trade show for the fitness and wellness industry and that we have been able to secure dates at the ICC Sydney Exhibition Centre.

“As promised the event will set an entirely new standard for events in the industries we serve and with a focus on bringing together a curated audience of not just decision-makers but also industry professionals from every type of fitness facility, across all verticals.

“Many of Australia’s leading fitness and wellness operators have come onboard in support of the event and as members of the Industry Advisory Board and this is an addition to our already announced Exhibitor Advisory Board.

“I'm overwhelmed with the support received from this side of the market, where as you will see, the Board represents most of Australia's leading operators and is designed to be a representation of leaders from all of our different attendee types that our exhibitors are looking to engage with.”

Co-located with the previously revealed Business of Fitness Conference, the events have the potential to bring together buyers and decision-makers from every type of facility to find, compare and purchase the latest fitness equipment, technology, products and services from the industry’s top suppliers.

Krenz added “we stand by the promise to bring an entirely new standard of B2B event to the commercial side of the fitness, health and wellness industry (and) the positive response, willingness to support, and desire for this initiative has blown me away, and the level of insight shared thus far invaluable to shaping something truly powerful for the industry.”

Members of the Industry Advisory Board include:

  • Nick Cox, Chief Executive, Belgravia Leisure
  • Ian Jensen-Muir, Chief Executive, Genesis Health + Fitness
  • Carolyn Morris, Chief Executive, YMCA Victoria
  • Sean Hodges, Chief Operating Officer, Viva Leisure

Commenting on his involvement, Body Fit Training founder and joint Chief Executive, Cameron Falloon stated “I’m excited to be part of what I feel will be the event of the year for the fitness industry in Australia. I’m sure the offering will be diverse and that it will cover a lot of great topics including the big question of how you can future proof your fitness business, and it’s not just all about technology, there needs to be a real focus on people skills, continued education, professional development and building a great team, which is a huge passion of mine.”

Sean Hodges, Viva Leisure’s Chief Operating Officer, sees the event as an unprecedented opportunity for the industry, noting “an event for operators with the opportunity for operators to curate the content is exciting. This is just what the Australian fitness industry needs to keep pushing forward.”

Ed Smith, Chief Executive at Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness, added “I see the event helping to cut through the spin on a major scale, offering people the opportunity to discover in one, independent event, the present and future of their organisation or profession.”

Krenz concluded “we are off to a great start with many of the major suppliers already committing to the show.

“The exhibition floor plan is now live and with the interest we’ve had to date, we are confident the inaugural event will sell out quickly.”
