Sports Environment Alliance welcomes Australian Racing Drivers’ Club into its network

Sports Environment Alliance welcomes Australian Racing Drivers’ Club into its network
October 21, 2024

The Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) has welcomed the Australian Racing Drivers’ Club (ARDC) as a member of the SEA network.

As Australia’s largest motorsport club, the ARDC, which managed the Sydney Motorsport Park, believe they have a responsibility to be leaders in their field, by further driving environmental practices in motorsport, and making positive contributions to the Australian motoring community.

Joining SEA exposes the ARDC to other leaders in their industry and beyond, harnessing the innovation and collaboration that has defined motorsport in Australia for nearly a century.

Outlining the club’s key sustainability initiatives, including a focus on waste management, community engagement, and environmental stewardship, Tan Nguyen, Sustainability Manager at the ARDC, noted “by 2026, we aim to maximise landfill diversion through sustainable waste practices and continue to promote eco-friendly practices among event stakeholders.

“In partnership with Hyundai, we’ve installed rapid EV charging stations and acquired an EV safety car, with plans to invest further in clean energy. We're also committed to enhancing biodiversity and fostering local community engagement through inclusive activities” he said.

In addition to these efforts, the ARDC will develop a carbon reduction roadmap, focusing on energy, water, and emissions management to minimise its environmental impact and support a sustainable future.

Welcoming ARDC, SEA Chief Executive, Adam Cheyne stated  “we’re excited to have the ARDC join our network, especially given their strong commitment to furthering environmental and climate sustainability in a sport where innovation and performance is paramount.

“Their forward-thinking approach to waste management, community engagement, and clean energy sets a benchmark for the motorsport community.

“We look forward to collaborating with ARDC as they accelerate towards a sustainable future in motorsport.”
