read moreThe Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) has announced two new members - facilities operator Clublinks and Diving South Australia.
As operators of golf courses and leisure centres across Australia, Clublinks understand its environmental responsibility, and joining SEA aligns with their commitment to sustainability and community impact.
Nathan Bird, Asset and Environment Manager, at the Clublinks-managed Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre (NARC) explains that by partnering with SEA, allows it can collaborate with like-minded organisations, adopt best practices, and implement sustainable initiatives across their facilities, helping to reduce their ecological footprint while inspiring others to do the same.
Bird noted “at Clublinks, we prioritise sustainability through key partnerships and a strong commitment to eco-friendly practices. We’ve partnered with organisations like RecycleSmart to manage hard-to-recycle items and utilise BioPak for sustainable packaging in our food and beverage areas.
“We enhance our facilities by focusing on sustainability in every aspect of our operations, from energy efficiency to waste reduction, and believe that comprehensive staff training is essential to achieving our environmental goals” he said.
In welcoming Clublinks to the SEA network, SEA Chief Executive stated “we’re not only acknowledging Clublinks proactive approach to sustainability but also amplifying our collective impact on environmental responsibility across sports and recreation facilities nationally.
“Together, we are better equipped to inspire change, implement sustainable practices, and drive meaningful results that benefit our communities. We’re excited to see the positive strides Clublinks will bring to this movement.”
As South Australia’s only diving club, Diving SA (DSA), which has approximately 250 active members, runs programs at the South Australian Aquatic & Leisure Centre (SAALC) and will shortly be expanding to Gawler Aquatic Centre.
Becoming a member of SEA is important to Diving South Australia as it aligns with their commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible practices.
DSA Executive Officer, Rick Shrowder commented “by joining SEA, we demonstrate to our members, stakeholders, and the wider community that we are an organisation dedicated to fostering environmental awareness and ensuring our activities remain sustainable.
“It reflects our willingness to learn, remain open-minded, and engage in globally responsible actions, promoting a culture of care for the environment and future generations.”
Shrowder added “we’re working with fellow SEA member, SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre and we’re confident that our SEA membership will stimulate more discussion on environmental awareness and globally responsible actions in the immediate future.”
