Wellness tourism leaders to discuss industry trends and developments at Spa Summit
The second annual Spa Summit is being hosted in Byron Bay from 20th-21st October attracting Australian and international spa, wellness and wellness tourism leaders to discuss the latest developments and trends in wellness from bathing, biohacking, longevity and sustainability to AI innovations, wellness architecture and corporate wellbeing.
The Wellness Summit will feature 25 speakers and panellists as well as 10 activations and immersions showcasing contrast therapy, bee beds, guided meditations, treatments, red light therapy and a cutting-edge Wellness Check to determine both biological and cognitive age. Around 150 attendees are expected at the two day event.
The event is being curated by Australia’s spa and wellness industry pioneer, Kris Abbey who enthused “I am thrilled to bring the Summit to Australasian wellness operators. It will delve into the emerging area of longevity, shed new light on wellness trends, stimulate growth, arm delegates with ideas and deliver a valuable and totally uplifting event”.
Speakers include Australia’s leading wellness professor Dr Marc Cohen, Gold Medal Olympian, naturopath, nutritionist and author Dr Lauren Burns, New Zealand’s Aro Ha Wellness Retreat co-founder Damian Chaparro, and gastronomic tourism expert and advisor, Sam Gowing.
The event will culminate in the third annual Asia Pacific Spa & Wellness Awards on 21st October, a gala event showcasing the industry’s best across six categories including Spa, Wellness, Travel, Beauty, People and People’s Choice.
Abbey added “we have received a record number of entries for this year’s Awards and the entries are more far reaching spanning Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, India and cruise companies who are focusing on wellness.”
The Global Wellness Institute forecasts the wellness market will continue to expand its share of consumer spending over the next five years, growing to US$8.5 trillion in 2027 – nearly double the size it was in 2020.
The Byron Bay event is the second Wellness Summit, with last year’s event hosted on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. Both the Wellness Summit and the Awards Dinner will be held at Crystalbrook Byron. The expansive property is set in a subtropical rainforest and is a celebration of nature, responsible luxury, and the local environment.
Heath Batterham of Destination North Coast shared “Byron Bay is thrilled to welcome this event, offering a unique platform for collective inspiration and learning. It’s a privilege to showcase the region’s array of wellness activities, inviting attendees to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of experiences we offer.”
Summit tickets are $1,200 per delegate or $1,500 for a combined ticket to the Spa and Wellness Awards gala event. To learn more or book visit wellnesssummit.com.au
