read moreThe World Leisure Organisation is calling for special session proposals and abstracts for the 17th World Leisure Congress scheduled to take place from 12th to 16th December 2022 in the New Zealand South Island city of Dunedin, with the overall theme being ‘Leisure: Learn well, live well’.
‘Learn well’ reflects how we learn through aquatic, recreation, sport and tourism and the strong education focus in Dunedin, which is home to one of the world’s leading universities. ‘Live well’ reflects how lesiure contributes to individual and community well-being at local, regional, and international levels. The leisure industry plays a crucial and evolving role in this well-being. Together, these components speak to the relevance and application of academic leisure theory and research to the practice of living well.
Within the main Congress programme, World Leisure Congress 2022 will feature special sessions (90 minutes) and those interested are invited to submit a special session proposal. The special session aims to focus on a specific topic of interest for World Leisure Organisation members and non-members. These sessions can be in the form of a workshop, debate, symposium, discussion forum, etc. Special session proposals should be submitted by the prospective organiser/lead(s) who will commit to promoting and handling the review process of their special session as Chairs or Co-Chairs of the session.
They must be written in English and be no more than 300 words.
The proposal should be submitted here before 1st September 2021.
Following a review of the special session proposals, a call for abstracts will open on 1st November, 2021. This is the time when individuals can submit abstracts that either relate to a specifically named session, or which align more broadly with the congress themes.
For questions regarding your submission, please contact Anna Mills, annam@conference.nz.
