$2 swim program to return to Brisbane City Council’s aquatic centres for summer

$2 swim program to return to Brisbane City Council’s aquatic centres for summer
October 17, 2024

Following the success of Brisbane City Council’s move to charge a flat rate of $2 for both adults and children using its 22 aquatic centres through the last summer, the program is to return for 2024/25.

First announced in June 2023, and running for the entire three months of last summer, the $2 Summer Dips program generated 660,000 visits between 1st December 2023 and 29th February 2024.

The Council advised that residents saved around $2.4 million on entry fees while December last year saw a remarkable 104% year on year increase in people visiting on of the city's pools.

Across the summer of 2023/24, pools at Jindalee, Carole Park and the Emily Seebohm Aquatic Centre also saw a doubling of attendance rates.

Commenting on the return of the program, City of Brisbane Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner told Australasian Leisure Management "Brisbane is the best place in the world to live, work and play and the $2 Summer Dips program helps residents get out and enjoy our incredible lifestyle, without having to break the bank.

"We’re delivering on our commitments to address the challenges of rising living costs by bringing back $2 Summer Dips so residents can stay cool for less."

The second year of $2 Summer Dips will run from Sunday 1st December to Friday 28th February 2025.

Brisbane City Council's public pools include Centenary Pool, Spring Hill Baths and the Valley Pool, plus Musgrave Park Swimming Centre, the Colmslie Aquatic Centre in Morningside, Ithaca Pool in Paddington, Dunlop Park Memorial Swimming Pool in Corinda and Hibiscus Sports Complex Pool in Upper Mount Gravatt.

Chermside Pool, Bellbowrie Pool and Manly Pool are all covered as well, as are Yeronga Park Memorial Swimming Pool, Mt Gravatt East Swimming Pool and Sandgate Aquatic Centre.
