California Fitness and Yoga - one of the most popular high-end gym chains in Vietnam – has partnered with Hybrid Fitness Racing Hong Kong to bring the global phenomenon of HYROX to Vietnam.

HYROX is a mass participation, competitive fitness race that combines running with functional workouts: participants run 1km followed by a functional workout, repeated eight times. Each time, the functional element changes, with the eight disciplines being SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers’ carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls.

California Fitness & Yoga Chief Executive Dane Fort noted “as the leading fitness brand in the country, California Fitness always strives to be the first to bring high-quality workout experiences to the Vietnamese population. We are proud to be the first fitness centre in the country to partner with HYROX.

“With our mission of One Life Live Well, we’re committed to bringing the Vietnamese people as many opportunities to stay fit and healthy and enjoy life as we can.

“Sport is very popular here, including events such as triathlon and marathon, but there hasn’t been a similarly fun yet challenging event for gym enthusiasts – until now. Having completed a HYROX race myself, I knew it was something we needed to bring to Vietnam and to our fantastic CA’thlete community.”

Launched in June and now available across all clubs nationwide, there are two elements to the California Fitness HYROX offering.

The first is the HYROX P’F”T (Physical Fitness Test) series, which establishes race readiness and suitable participation level as well as general fitness. This is available free of charge to all California members and takes place at least once a month in each club. It was completed by 3,000 people in the first two months.

Fort added“It’s a great way to test your fitness, even if you don’t currently intend to race.”

The second is a HYROX small group training program that runs at least once a week in each club. Focusing on three key elements – functional fitness, strength and endurance – these sessions take place in the clubs’ PTX zones, cater for between five and 10 people and incur an additional fee.

Sitting under California’s PT 3.0 umbrella – a newly launched reimagining of all PT and small group training services – every group HYROX class is run by one of California’s HYROX-certified master trainers.

Fort enthused “there is significant momentum behind HYROX and we’re seeing high levels of interest among members and non-members, all of whom can access our new HYROX services.

“The exciting fitness playground of HYROX gives us a great opportunity to attract new people to our clubs, as well as giving existing members even more reason to upgrade to PT 3.0.”

Hybrid Fitness Racing Hong Kong is planning an inaugural HYROX event in Vietnam in late 2025, with California gearing up to play a role as “a major partner”.
