read moreThe Sports and Play Industry Association (SAPIA) has advised that the judging process has now been completed for the 133 entries submitted for this year’s SAPIA Industry Awards competition.
The record number of entries, beating last year's 109 entries, have been submitted by 35 separate SAPIA members, including, for the first time, an entry for a project Papua New Guinea.
In a communication to members, SAPIA Secretary, Robyn Wilcox advised “I am so proud of everyone who entered their work, it was of such top quality and confirms our oft-repeated boast that SAPIA members are the best at sports and playspace design, construction, surfacing, installation and fitout.
“The Innovation Awards submitted were mind-expanding (so) if you were too shy or flat out with work to enter this year, why not start preparing now for next year so you are ready to go when the 2025 competition opens on 1st February?”
Wilcox added “spare a thought for the judges who had to pick a winner from projects that were of near equal quality.”
Winners will be presented at the 2024 SAPIA National Conference.
2024 SAPIA National Conference
SAPIA has also announced that its 2024 National Conference will be held on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th September at the Mantra On Salt Beach in the Northern NSW town of Kingscliff.
Welcoming all involved in sports, recreation or playspace design, construction, installation, testing or maintenance to attend, Wilcox added “our conferences provide members and interested parties with the opportunity to learn about new techniques and ways to reduce or overcome issues in their working lives, meet sports governing bodies’ key personnel and hear about their organisations’ plans for the future, acquaint themselves with suppliers and manufacturers of products and services to the industry, converse with the SAPIA Board of Directors who are experts in their fields, form new business relationships, have fun and enjoy the company of their peers.
“Whether you are new to the industry or an old hand, you cannot afford to miss the SAPIA National Conference.”
In addition to featuring the presentation of SAPIA’s Industry Awards, the Conference is a networking and social event, including the annual Edo Trophy golf tournament, the SAPIA Long Lunch, AGM, Welcome Party, Conference, Gala Dinner, Awards Presentation and Fund-raising Auction.
